Connecting with Nature @ Gallop Stable at Pasir Ris Park

Our primary school kids were busy with tons of homework these days.

So I decided that they need a breather. Watching the trees swayed in the afternoon breeze coupled with the rustling of leaves are one of the best ways to wind down. Without a doubt, their faces lit up, all four of them, when I mentioned going to the park to meet the bunnies and horses.

Gallop Stable @ Pasir Ris Park

Gallop Stable started its operation in Pasir Ris Park since 2003 and over the years expanded. Its second stable is located in Bukit Timah. Click here for location.

Most of the Gallop Stable’s residents are ex-racehorses. Gallop Stable is giving these horses another opportunity at life. Racehorses which cannot recover from their injury may face the worst consequence if nowhere else can take them it.

What to do at Gallop Stable?

Feed the Animals!

Our two toddlers jumped with joy when they knew they were going to feed the horses, ponies and rabbits.

Even though we were slightly disappointed to find out that there were only one horse and one pony available to interact with us, we were still grateful for this free opportunity that is located so near to us. Going to the zoo is fun too, but it is not easily accessible.

We purchased carrots for the horse and pony, and xiao pek chey for the rabbits. Each pack costs $2. Just be mentally prepared that the food is in small portion. And my big girl was so confused. She insisted that the carrot was for the rabbits, and vegetables for the horse and pony. I agreed with her, but nope, that was not the caregiver’s instruction.

There are lots of ladles hung out there for feeding the horse and pony. As for the rabbits, the children are free to use their hands.

Pony and Horse Riding

Pony and Horse Riding are available for children above three and adults too. But we didn’t give it a go. My big kids could not muster enough courage to come in such close contact with these animals bigger than them. But it’s okay. We can try it out in the future.

The ride seems affordable to me, at $15 per ride for horses and $10 per ride for ponies. But I am not sure of the duration though.
