Universal Studio Singapore with a 3 year old

If I have just one 3-year-old child, I probably will not bring them to Universal Studio Singapore (USS). But since we have four kids ages ranging from 3 to 10, we don’t have much choice but

We decided to visit the half-empty Universal Studio Singapore with two three-year-old kids during the March school holidays to maximize the short queues resulting from Covid-19. Indeed, we did not wait for more than 5 minutes for most rides.

There were a couple of rides that our twins could ride. They were exhilarated experiencing some of them but spooked by a couple too.

Check out the twins’ experience here.

Madagascar: A Crate Adventure

Minimum height limit: 80 cm

The Madagascar Crate Adventure is an indoor 9-minute boat river where Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo take us on a river adventure to defeat the horrid Foosa.

The ride was calm and slow. However, the twins started frightened due to the dark and mildly eerie atmosphere. Music was loud and disturbing to them too.

Thankfully, the twins remained composed by the end of the ride.

King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round

The twins loved the carousel tremendously. Thanks to the extremely short queue, we spun around countless times! Coupled with the evergreen and groovy “I Like To Move It” theme song playing while they whirled, it was nothing but pure fun!

Enchanted Airways

Minimum height: 92 cm

After experiencing a slow roller coaster ride in Chiang Mai, the twins were looking forward to another thrilling roller coaster ride. But they didn’t expect this ride to be significantly faster.

They screamed their hearts out as the cars swerved left and right. The turns were pretty sharp, and it felt as if they were flying out of their seats. While the twins ended the ride excited, they did not want to attempt a second ride.

Shrek 4-D Adventure

The Shrek 4-D Adventure is a 3-D film coupled with bouncing chairs, air blasts and water spray.

The briefing area was pitch dark, and it did not help that the briefing was redundantly long and eerie. The twins did not like the darkness and begged to leave the place.

When the briefing was finally over, we proceeded into the theatre. The park guide saw our little kids and immediately led us to the stationary chairs for safety reasons. It wasn’t too much difference as we still experienced the air blasts and water spray. There just wasn’t any bumpy ride.

Thanks to the earlier experience in the briefing area, the twins started frightened. However, they gradually adjusted to the show and the special effects and could enjoy most of the short movie.

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase

Minimum height: 92 cm

Universal Studio Singapore

The twins loved the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase indoor ride.

We joined the Sesame Street superheroes to stop the villain Macaroni the Merciless from stealing all the spaghetti in the world. The speed was just suitable for the girls, and the surrounding was filled with friendly Sesame Street props. Even with elevations, some sharp turns and gentle downturn slopes, the girls utterly enjoyed most of the time.

In hindsight, we should have started our USS adventure with Sesame Street, which the twins are very familiar with.

Dino-Soarin

No minimum height.

We rode on the back of the Pteranodons revolving round and round. The highlight of this ride was controlling how high we wanted to go by pressing a button. So the little ones took complete control of the button throughout the ride, taking pleasure in riding high and plunging.

Treasure Hunters

No minimum height

It was a futile 30-minute wait for us. Heavy rain came and never stopped. This is a gentle ride for the young and old to enjoy, though reviews suggested giving this stop a miss if the queue gets too long. There are more fun things ahead.

Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey

Minimum height: 100 cm

Universal Studio Singapore

Puss in Boots Giant Journey is a glider-style suspended roller coaster ride. Unfortunately, we missed it as the twins were just a few centimetres away from 100cm. They were disappointed to know that they were denied entry.

Seeing how other visitors sat on the roller coaster suspended in the air made them eager to try it out.

The ride includes some accelerating, climbing, tilting and sharp drops that will undoubtedly increase our heart rate.

Elmo’s TV Time

We missed this performance because we had planned for another itinerary for the older kids in Universal Studio Singapore! But this is probably something little kids will like if they are familiar with Sesame Street. I bet my twins will love the show too.
