For avid hikers who are planning to trek to Mount Batur in Bali, you may wish to consider staying in Oculus Bali, a new hotel recently established in Kintamani in 2022. It is a boutique hotel with only 8 Suites Bedrooms and 2 Royal Suites Bedrooms.
The hotel is slightly above sea level, and the weather was around 21 degrees when I travelled there in May. There is no aircon in the entire hotel, including the rooms. But fret not, as there will be no sweat at all.
We were greeted by the beautiful architecture that faces the breathtaking view of Mt Batur upon checked in.
The receptionist was very friendly when we checked in. The level of politeness displayed by the entire staff was beyond extraordinary, surpassing any expectations we had. If I were to rate their hospitality, it would undoubtedly be 11 out of 10.
Welcome drinks were also provided.
The rooms are located below the reception floor at Oculus Bali.
As we opened the door to our room, we felt very close to the mother nature. The hotel has achieved their intention of harmoniously blending nature with civilization.
If you are a TV junkie, you wouldn’t wish to come here as there is no TV in the room. I think they wish for you to absorb the view of Mt Batur fully.
Every corner of the room in Oculus Bali is subtly well-designed and serves its purpose. You can wake up in the morning with a view of the greenery.
We hung out at the welcome foyer for food and drink while admiring the view of Mt Batur.
There is also an infinity pool on the rooftop.
If you wish for a massage at the hotel, let them know in advance as they do not have an in-house therapist.
We chilled out in the hotel for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the food they served. Breakfast was included in our stay, and the food was equally splendid.
On the next morning, we commenced our hike at 3.30 am. Fellow hikers on the same chartered transport were in awe of the hotel structure. One of them couldn’t help but descend the car in an attempt to capture some fantastic photos of the hotel, albeit in the darkness of the morning.
I hope you’ll be in Oculus Bali for a unique experience. If you’re a wabi-sabi lover, this place is definitely for you!
