Better Moon Guesthouse, Bangkok – Our Review

We have fond memories of highly rated Better Moon Guesthouse. Since there were 20 of us joining the Bangkok trip, we booked the entire guesthouse consisting of 9 ensuites rooms for exclusivity.

It was a lot of fun. The guesthouse is located above the Better Moon Cafe X Refill Station, both operated by the same owner.

There are lotsa staircases in this 3-storey guest house. The kids had a good time running up and down the various floors, knocking their cousins’ and aunts’ doors early in the morning.

I did not take a lot of photos. There were so many of us there and the rooms were quickly filled with luggage and people.

Each room has a different concept. There is an art room equipped with canvas and painting supplies for the guest to use freely, and a music room with an electric organ and a guitar which we tried hard to keep the kids away from.

We spent our early morning and late nights gathering in the kitchenette that comes with the basic amenities. There is a microwave that we never use because there was ample street food conveniently located just downstairs and we “tabao” a lot of food back. There were lots of laughter, both adults and children luxuriated in the time spent interacting with one another in comfort.

Clean Environment, Responsive Staffs

We walked around barefooted, and the floor felt clean. Shoes are not allowed within the guest house. We left ours outside the main door. The sheets smell great and the attached bathrooms are washed too.

There was one bathroom which had a stench. The owner and her staff reacted very promptly to our feedback and got rid of the odour once and for all.

In line with their eco-friendly concepts, separate bins were provided for trash, recyclable items and food scraps.

Roof Top for Laundry

We needed to pack clothing for 6 persons. So we kept everything minimal. There is a washing machine on the rooftop available for guests’ use and it was certainly very helpful for us. Each load costs only THB20.

The rooftop was breezy and the clothes dried fast. Unfortunately, there was no peg provided and strong winds often blew the washed clothes onto the dirty floor by the time we returned in the evening.

A Lot of Staircases

The guesthouse was not a toddler-friendly place. The staircases are steep and some are without railings. The adults spent a lot of time running after the little ones who were having a great time climbing up and down the steps to ensure that they do not roll down the steps.

So for those who cannot freely access the staircase, this is not the place for you.

Better Moon Cafe x Refill Station

I like the cafe very much. It is really cosy and relaxing. The environmentally conscious owner has also set up a bulk station there, where one can purchase cleaning agent in bulk, silicon storage bags with free pasta of your choice.

I had my breakfast there and it was quite satisfying.
