Lion City Bike Tour – Get to Know Singapore the Unique Way

Having live in Singapore for so long, how much history do you know about the country? With most people being locked down in Singapore, it is a great idea to join some local activities. L

I looked around Klook and found this worthy bike activity to join – Lion City Bike Tour*. I thought besides getting my butt up to do some exercise, I would enjoy finding the hidden gem of the local scene while appreciating the history of Singapore.

We started the tour early in the morning from 8.30 am, expecting a group of people at the meet-up point. Lady luck fell on us because there were only the two of us along with the tour guide, Jeff. And I thought wow… a private bike tour for 2 worth less than 40 dollars for 4 hours, got a good deal!

Jeff explained that due to Covid-19, there have been no incoming tourists to join his history tour. As a result, he came up with a promotion for the locals to join. He started off by riding from Nicoll Highway MRT station and towards the Raffles place area while explaining to us how reclamation transformed the CBD .

It was a rare chance to see the Merlion without any tourist. We also took the chance to enjoy the morning scene of MBS.

Along the way, there were pitstops to have light bite and Jeff inserted stories of Singapore whenever possible. We passed by the oldest Hokkien Thian Hock Keng Temple at Telok Ayer street. Thereafter, we rode through the streets of Chinatown, Little India and also Bugis where the majority of the ethnic population were staying in the past.

For tourists, it’s always a great idea to bike around the city because there is only so much you can see within such a short period of time if you are touring on foot. If you’re interested in the place, you can always go back and spend more time in that area.

Jeff not only told us interesting facts about Singapore, but he also took extra care of our safety. It didn’t feel dangerous at all while riding around crowded areas. If you are the kind of outdoor person, this activity organised by Lion City Bike might be a great activity for you and your family. It is suitable from young to old.

Learn the history of the past , to further appreciate your present and future.
