Accepting the Blogger Recognition Award

It is a great honour to be nominated the Blogger Recognition Award. Thank you, Emma, from Ettie and Me for your nomination. This recognition means a great deal to me.

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication put into their blog.

This is an amazing award to be presented with, because starting a new blog is, “No walk in the park.” It requires tons of energy, time and patience. There is a wide variety of skills necessary for blogging, and most of these skills are new to me.

So, receiving this award is a great honour and each blogger who receives it should be proud of what they have accomplished, and also remember this isn’t the finish line, just a milestone. There is always more growth and knowledge to obtain. Take this award wear it with pride and keep building your blog.

What is Ettie and Me and who is Emma?

Ettie and Me is a UK parenting and lifestyle blog. The author behind the blog is Emma, a beautiful mother to a little “crazy” and “cheeky little rascal”, as she puts it. Emma is passionate about motherhood, travel and interiors. Ettie and Me is where she shares all her passions. Check out her blog to read about her adventures!

My Blog Story

I started my blog when I was on bedrest. I was pregnant with twins and had complications. After been warded for three weeks, I was sent home for strict bedrest, i.e. I had to lie flat on the bed and could only get off to use the washroom. See my full story here.

I was bored with the endless and mindless web-surfing, until one day, I came across an article on blogging. That article got me interested in blogging, and I started doing some research.

I realised I have a lot to share, especially kids’ stuff. I love to do fun things with my family, regardless whether it’s travelling, cooking or playing. So mychirpylife is now a little corner of the www to share with my friends the awesome places we brought our kids to and fun things we did with them. I am also a firm believer in an active lifestyle and healthy eating, so I wish my blog can spread positive messages about living a healthy and fruitful life.

My Advice to New Bloggers

Be Yourself

Pretending to be someone else kill the joy of blogging. Write something you genuinely love, and you will see an endless flow of creativity and contents from yourself. Before finding a direction for your blog, you may wish to check out other bloggers’ style and content to discover your niche area. An acquaintance once commented that she couldn’t blog because she is not pretty. That is the last reason for not blogging! You can blog because you have a flair in a certain skill set like knitting, cooking, drawing, etc. Or how about blogging where to get the best deals because you are good at that? There are countless options in blogging. But always remember, share because you sincerely want to benefit the others.

Have Courage

Don’t be afraid of judgement. When I first started, I worried how readers will judge my bad English, lousy photography skill and shallow contents. I still mind the judgement now, but practice makes perfect. As long as I continue to write, I will get better. I will gradually pick up the skill sets. Just as what Emma said –  ‘Write like no-ones reading’.

Be Patient

There is no magic in blogging. It takes time to build up traffic and for people to recognise you as a blogger. Put in the time and effort to market your blog. Join Facebook groups to share your post. Set up accounts in Pinterest, BlogLovin’ and Instagram. Share your article with the like-minded individuals to get better results.
